Is this supposed to be an art piece or just a crappy political statement?
Either way it looks like my four-year-old nephew did it with crayons. And I hope you know; criminals will always have guns so you better have them as well.

Funny, our criminals up here have guns, and the vast majority of Canadian Citizens don’t have them and we have about 1/1000th the gun crimes and deaths the US does…oh wait, the US has 1000x more gun deaths per capita than any other country…even those going through civil war!!
What does that tell you? lol

Jcguest, I hear that excuse ( or what I consider nonsense) all the time. I hear EVERYDAY on the news about another school, mall, movie theater shooting, or people getting gunned down on the streets. What I never hear is the newscaster followup with “the good news is a member of the NRA was there with his legally registered gun and saved the day”!! Need to find a better excuse, that one is worn out! Not to mention, there have been 74 school shootings since Sandy Hook!! When are we as a society going to wake up and do something about it!?

Really? That is your argument? Has this week taught you nothing? You think it is impossible, so stop worrying about the children who get shot every day? NO SIR! Not ever again. Here is how, in a couple steps:
1. Close background check loopholes
2. Owning an assault rifle (outside of an armory), large or extended clip, or any non hunting weapon could be forbidden without special permit.
3. Mandatory training, certification, and possibly recert tests for gun owners.
4. Mandatory insurance coverage for any gun owned, in case of accidental death.
5. Introducing technological safeties into every gun manufactured that could be allowed for sale in the United States. Not like it is that hard folks.
6. Caught with a gun with no license equals 1 year in prison, future loss of any gun rights.
With the loopholes closed, we keep taking the existing guns off the streets. Anything grandfathered in will either get confiscated or will end up in some responsible owner’s hands, as everything else gets melted down (to help increase demand for the newer tech, safer guns.

That must be why there are far less shooting in every other country in the world– it’s because they have more guns than we do…. Oh, wait a second, we have more guns than any other country. Try again 🙂

Don’t sell me a gun, as in stringent laws preventing everyone from buying a gun? Reminds me of the laws against alcohol (way back when) and drugs (now). So effective. How about thorough background checks including at gun shows?

Elise: typical reaction….no, any stringent laws wouldn’t prevent ANYONE from buying guns, just those who SHOULDN’T be buying guns…what is so hard about that to understand?
I mean, you have to pass tests to sell real estate. You have to pass tests to drive a car. You have to pass tests to be an accountant. You have to pass tests to fly a plane. Why not have some simple tests in order to own a gun?
The problem with the gun lobby is they have an attitude of all or nothing. Life isn’t that simple.
You want to know why the US is becoming the laughing stock of the planet? When you see pictures of your citizens carrying rifles into ARBY’S FFS

I think anyone whould be allowed to own a gun who is a member of a WELL REGULATED MILITIA. Anyone should be allowed to start a militia, but they must comply with state regulations to be licensed as well regulated. Only people with a state issued militia card would be allowd to buy or own guns and ammo. And the militias would be responsible for ensuring the crazies don’t become members., giving us that preventive screeneing we don,t have anywhere else in tis societ.

THis is “assuming that the members of the militia are all “compliant”, with no mental or emotional “problems” leading to “gunplay”. Guns were supposed to be for the military, police & self-protection. Those needs still persist.

Mary…there already is a Militia. And the great thing is…anyone can join. (Well…if you’re under 42, and healthy anyway) You don’t get to take your weapons they let you use in the Militia out in the private sector, but you get to help defend your state and your country all whilst being part of this great Militia……any clues yet? Yeah, it’s called the freaking NATIONAL GUARD! That’s the well regulated Militia part of the second amendment……”A well Regulated Militia Being Necessary For The Security Of A Free State….” That’s just the first part of the second amendment…..the last part more directly applies to private citizens…..the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed….yeah….that’s the part that you need be concerned with. The Federal Government can call upon the Militia to aide in the defense, (or offense) of the nation. Don’t believe me? Look it up….on a non-crazy- nut- job- gun- lover’s opinion page. Look it up on a real website. SO…in other words….the Militia is intended to be used BY the Government…not against the government. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is the part that’s independent from the Government. Now….that being said….the meme is dumb. Really dumb. It doesn’t even make sense. Don’t want to be sold guns? Then don’t go out looking to buy them!

Or in other words….”The federal government can use the militia for the following purposes as stated in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution:
To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions;”
SO…it’s not just my opinion…it’s IN the Constitution. Now….I also want Bill Mahr to know…..I AM a gun owner, and gun rights supporter. I’m also just not stupid…..I also support common sense regulation. Most of us gun owners, and gun lovers out here, are not nut jobs.
